Mumbai The state government on Thursday made no decision on what to call for in the coming months and said it was to hold a meeting on the issue if it wishes to start discussions.

Deputy CM Ravi Shankar Prasad, chairman of the Maharashtra state administration, told a meeting of senior business professionals in Mumbai’s Nalanda Nagar that all aspects of the state government’s national initiatives, such as state tax relief and a national scheme for making a living, were to be taken up by the state.

He also said that there was strong focus on public and civic support for initiatives in various parts of the state.

The meetings were attended by the finance minister, M B K Shah on Wednesday, and the chief minister on Monday.

Prasad, however, stated that his focus should be on state initiatives.

We should go ahead and come up with some steps now, he said.

Shah, in his post, said the state government’s focus will be on public health, public relief, public provision of health services, and welfare and social welfare. He said the state’s social welfare schemes could also be referred to as universal health and universal education and health and family welfare schemes which are under consideration for the state.

The state government has not identified any specific target date for completing them. The state had in August issued the central government a survey of citizens and civic organizations asking them whether they thought the state government can be done with its proposed schemes.

Besides, there are plans for the government to introduce a tax structure to tax goods in the state, a tax on the sale of land and the taxation of agricultural land, he said.

The state government has in recent times taken a stand that the private enterprise should get the right to run the local industries along with state government for all. But Prasad, who was chief minister from 2007 to 2015, has not put down roots in such a position.

Earlier, the state government had said that the interest of the government is to establish the economic and social development in the state that is also conducive to social security by providing assistance and social welfare. That had angered business groups from across India and the United States.
