The White House said Wednesday it will take its plan to eliminate an Obama administration rule to protect religious freedom while also expanding protections for women from discrimination. That provision included an exemption for employers of religious faiths.

President Barack Obama and lawmakers from the House and Senate signed off on the draft rule, which was also signed off on by two Republican and one Democrat, on Thursday. The rule will help transgender people use the bathroom that matches their gender identity.

It helps people in need understand why, in today’s workforce, they’re still discriminated against, Rep. Dave Brat (R-Va.), head of the House Ways and Means Committee, said in a statement. This is a strong example across America of the power that individual freedom has not only to protect the rights of LGBTQ individuals, but for our nation’s citizens to be able to exercise their personal right to privacy in the workplace.

Earlier this week, Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.), the chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, told NBC News that the provision will make it possible for people who receive mental health treatment or psychological treatment to take the bathroom to use the bathroom they would like.

Bannon has repeatedly pressed the administration to ensure it respects the privacy rights of transgender people. Earlier this week, an executive order barred federal agencies from using transgender technology to perform gender specific surgeries, including breast implants, or gender reassignment surgeries. On Wednesday night, the White House announced that the United States will no longer issue visas for those who identify as transgender.

The executive order, according to the Office of Management and Budget, was a significantly positive step forward by federal government to ensure that transgender people who do need the appropriate accommodations can obtain these accommodations.
