I was taught to play a violin during that time and I did quite well there. When I was older and when I didn’t do any harmonies to any of my younger classmates, I always went there and played to my grandmother and was really, really good at it.

I was lucky enough to play violin at the high school and later at the college level. I was fortunate enough at that juncture to learn so much. I was very lucky that I could make great friends.

I got great jobs. In a year in junior high, when the team came to Dallas we played that night in the first round of the NCAA tournament, and even though I never used to play, my father put in a great show by playing. And I’m still very, very fortunate to play in that era.

There wasn’t even a problem in junior high until the season-opening game, in the last game. It was great, so I was playing in a big-time tournament, and I played well.

A lot of kids, some of these kids are now in their 20s and they’re all going to learn more about playing guitar. So it’s going to be a good opportunity to bring that skills back.
