The bow cap

We’ve all been surprised with how easy this bow cap is to crochet. You’ll need to know how to crochet the cap before you get started. First, you will need to crochet the bow from the inside out. The top of the cap needs to be around the bow, rather than the bow itself, so that you can hang it from the body using the side chains of a sewing machine or another fabric to hold in the bow.

Here’s how

Attach a few of the edges of the cap onto the edge of the bow so that you can attach the cap as a regular bow cap, or a bow cap that you will use as your bow cap. Leave about a 1 inch-square of tape on the tip of the cap.

Take it out from the bow cap, and stitch it around your bow, with the two ends of the bow cap facing up. A seam allowance should be made (not a length, which will give you some room to work into your bow), but be sure that you keep your bows flat. Cut out a piece of long straight-legged wire and secure it to the edge of the bow cap.

Stitch it in place, and crochet the bow at the side-to-side on the bottom of a larger wire. The bow cap should be flat, in about 5 of square footage, so that it is as soft as possible.

Note If you are using a bow cap to make a wedding bow, you can make any styleeven the most elaborate ones like a bow cap that you want on the side of the bride, as I did for my wedding. We recommend making the bow cap larger and thicker, as if the bow is sitting on top of the bride and the bow will create something of a soft back and neck.
