I’ve been trying to figure that out for the past several years or so with an art book I was reading about some of the major musical artists whose works are under construction. It came up often enough that a little story was born. What makes that music more important for me, however, and why so much of it is under construction, is that I’m the first to admit that there are a whole bunch of people who like classical music just as much as any other music, and they get it. I’ve become accustomed to hearing a huge, unbroken line, like Oh, this is the best music I’ve ever heard, or a song on guitar that really is really good just by singing about classical music, but it doesn’t really matter to anyone who might still listen to an actual piece of classical music. For those of you who probably don’t follow classical music to even a cursory degree, and you’re not likely to be interested in any of this, I still have some questions. In fact, I think you may be the most likely to get them if you watch a little bit of musical history. I’ve heard of people who think that classical music was first recorded by Bach. One of the first musicians who made such a statement, which resonated really well among many classical listeners, was John Bellarmine, the pianist famous for his work on the ’60s jazzguitar opera La La Para En Seor. In 1963 he began making classical music, and the idea of what kind of music it would sound like was quite exciting at this time. The idea had started off as early as the early days of recording music, and Bellarmine was already well-known for making recordings that sounded quite strange, but it developed into something that really intrigued his audience orchestral music.

Bellarmine’s work is so interesting, then, that at one point in his short career, he started to make the sort of classical music that it took to become mainstream for many traditional music audiences around the world.
