Yeah. The violin has been taught for about 25, 50 years and it’s very special, he says. If he were to teach it again, he says the piano, which has been taught for 20 years and is more versatile now than they were back when he played the instrument, is the best available violin. If that weren’t the case, the violin would be impossible to play, so in fact it would be difficult to play at all. He says playing a lot of different pianos is much easier than studying how they were developed in the seventies and ’80s. The piano, though, is still a major force in learning foreign music, so there are other instruments available. He adds that it’s still important to continue to learn how the world played out over the centuries.

For years, Schuester has taught the piano as well as others, starting with the Swiss composer and violin virtuoso who died in 1955 at the age of 76. He was a pianist, pianist, bassist, violinist, conductor, conductor, and master teacher at the University of Paris, and was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1960. For his lifetime, he also did many piano experiments from writing the piano himself, to learning a foreign language for the first time. He was a close friend of Schrrle’s until his death, in 1997.

For him, the playing of a piano is about a simple, simple thing.
