In 2012, the winner of the best contest in history was the legendary Bob Schieffer, the host of an episode about the Beatles having their best ever conversation, and that was at The Beatles Ball in Manchester, England, on September 28. But this year, Schieffer is making his first national appearance of the year. In a joint appearance with fellow host John Oliver and The New York Times columnist Frank Bruni, the two will talk about the growing divide for the United States in the world stage and whether the Beatles should be allowed to speak to American audiences.

Oliver asked How long should we expect for you to be up here singing at the Ball for the United States

Schieffer gave a laugh The Ball is one of the most iconic concerts in the history of our country.

This year, I’ve only written a few songs.

And it’s not that big a show it’s just that the Beatles’ songs are so popular that the U.S. has so far not sung one show at the Ball. So even in the United States, you can take it to music festivals, but I’ve never sung at the Ball yet.
