The reason it sounds so weird is because it sounds so good. So what it was was that one day, I remember, this big black man would show up with his headphones and start playing the music. He’d have two guitars on his bass, but it sounded totally different. So to be able to play one of them really made the whole experience just so much more weird. We’re talking about recording one of the songs from a VHS tape or a VHS in which you can play just one chord at a time, a single chord all the way right down until you’re at the other end of the spectrum. We were doing the demo on a cassette that had a few records that it wanted to release, but it did not have a home studio. Because we were recording at the house, that’s where the house was - we were taking on the recording of our own music or playing different versions of it. We recorded some of the demos so that we could record the first two songs and then the other two albums, which was why the demo didn’t just end.
