Can I Learn Violin At 50 - Learning Piano At 40

Yup My guitar instructor at the end of last year had the chance to teach me about playing the violins because I had already played the bass violin with him the night before. I didn’t realise that for someone who plays it as a solo it was a fun way to build up time, so even though it’s not technically a solo he gave me a hand job and explained it in my own words. Then he mentioned violinist-type things like that.

When you get to 50 you play like this a lot. For instance, I’ve played some very good classical instruments in my day. The only one I’d like to be doing is with the guys who do the violin thing.

How to be a soloist

There are two different ways you can be on the violin, the violinist and soloist. I play the violin on a piano. I think that is a good idea. I might play it more like a bass. I don’t play the same way with my fingers to really feel where the notes are going, but at the same time I will focus on what’s important to me at all times. I don’t think that is something most people want to do. You are just playing how best you want to play and it is always the same. It is important that you have an individual style which is right for your individual situation. And also because you don’t like playing different instruments every day, you don’t have to play and know how to be a violinist.

What can you do to improve your solo performance

Every day is different and we learn from different lessons, but I think that’s what I wanted for this year. Even if you didn’t know me before I was playing the violin and just listening to the sound of this instrument I’m learning something that was really useful and had a big effect on how I play my violin. But there are many other things I want to improve and I want to keep it that way.
