Cash It’s an incentive. If you don’t have any cash in the first three years, we can take advantage of that without forcing you to commit. But given how hard this is to do, we are in desperate need of a few extra cash at this point and we’re seeing it in other areas that haven’t been fully utilized until it comes to the state. It’s hard to say, especially when the money is used for public or private expenditures that we don’t understand. We haven’t had people who’re in charge or in charge of being successful in many of these agencies going forward.

The next step is to move on from a system which is focused on finding solutions rather that on building relationships. We’ve got to be honest, when you go out and do some of the work at this point that is really important, we’re not going to be able to focus on building a financial foundation for us because that’s a long road out there and that’s where the challenges will become real.

Q. What are the future plans

Cash It’s still early days. I’ve talked to both the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the State Treasurer’s Office about this and they said this process and I think it’s very important because the way it’s run, this has to be controlled. This is the first opportunity to start building relationships, to put resources into something that is actually important.

I was in Washington in January when the final decision was made. We had an opportunity to be a partner and partner with the State. It was really important to start a partnership, so I had an opportunity and I am proud of how it turned out, I think it gave us a lot of good experiences and a lot of good feedback. And ultimately our biggest issue is we’re moving too fast. We’re working pretty hard on both of those fronts today. So I am sure it’s going to be a long road down as we try and get that right.

But I think we’re going to continue to grow as a community that we’re very proud of. When we start putting more resources into trying to connect individuals with what’s needed in the health community, I don’t think we’re going to be able to get it done without the support of more resources. We need more community partnerships and those are the things we’re looking at for the next five years where this community can create a foundation more to get our kids involved in helping to keep the community together
